Family Before Phones, Right? errr...Right.

The truth---I spend way too much time on my phone. While probably 75% of the time I am making grocery lists, googling a "how to", or scheduling carpool, all my kids see is the top of my head and all they probably feel is disinterest and disregard, I know that because that's how I feel when I'm in a room or at a table with another adult who is constantly on their phone. My husband is just as guilty, so we have come up with a simple plan for the family that we could both agree on. Phones are allowed after school until dad gets home from work (as long as grades are good). When dad gets home, he will initiate "No Phone Family Time" by putting his phone in a basket on the counter and encouraging others to join him. ("Yay," for mom not being the bad guy!) That gives us two full hours of productivity, conversation and connection! Note: Definitely no phones at mealtime or 1 hour before bed, and pick whatever 2 hour window works for your family and your circumstances.
